Muscat: Qatar striker Almoez Ali has picked up the Golden Boot after scoring nine goals at the 2019 Asian Cup.
In doing so, he has broken Iranian Ali Daei’s statistic of eight goals scored in a single competition, which was set in 1996. Qatar, in fact, conceded just the one goal at the Asian Cup, and Saad Al Sheeb also picked up the Golden Gloves award for best goalkeeper.
Almoez Ali was also named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, as Japan captain Maya Yoshida picked up his side’s Fair Play award for the fewest number of cards picked up in the tournament.
