More than thousand buses recalled for upgrade

Muscat: More than 1,000 buses have been recalled due to a defect that could result in 'serious injury', the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has announced.
According to authorities, the recall was due to a defect in the handle of the bus which could cause passengers to lose balance as a result of instability of the handle grip.
In a statement, PACP said, "The Public Authority for Consumer Protection in cooperation with Suhail Bahwan Automotive Group has launched a call-back campaign for 1,039 Nissan Civic (W41) buses 1999-2014."
"The recall comes following the possibility that the handle will be exposed as a result of the continuous use due to its instability in the column plate (A), which leads to the passenger's loss of balance and the occurrence of severe injury," PACP added.
As a result, the company will inspect and remove the handle and add a stabilizer in the column, according to Nissan service procedures.
