Dhofar gearing up for Khareef

Muscat: Working ATMs and cleaner restrooms were both on the agenda as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry gears up for this year’s Khareef in Dhofar.
In preparation for the season which falls between June 21 and September 21 of each year, the Ministry met with the competent authorities to highlight the important details that need to be in place. All present confirmed that each sector was ready to cope with the influx of tourists and visitors.
The meeting was chaired by Jamal bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Director General of the General Directorate of Commerce and Industry in Dhofar.
Government and commercial food services companies were present as well as bank owners and petroleum marketing companies.
Under discussion was the importance of easy access to foods and essentials at shops and commercial complexes while monitoring the markets. The members also took on board the observations made from last year regarding food.
The topic of providing additional oil reserves at petrol stations throughout the governorate was also looked at, as the majority of tourists and visitors arrive in Dhofar by road.
Petrol station owners also stressed the need to maintain clean public facilities as well as toilets at the stations and provide necessary services for passengers.
In addition, the necessity of ongoing maintenance work on ATMs, depositing machines in markets, complexes and shopping centres was highlighted to commercial bank officials who were asked to ensure smooth and uninterrupted access to cash flow.
