Muscat: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan is keen on visiting Oman, said the Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

Talking exclusively to Times of Oman about when to expect the arrival of PM Khan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister said: “I am here to lay the ground. I have been travelling in the region and engaging with the regional leadership, and PM Imran Khan is very keen on visiting Oman and other regional countries.”

Qureshi, who was on his first trip to Oman after nine years, said that the expatriate community of Pakistan has been very supportive in Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) journey - the current ruling party of the country.

“The expatriate community of Pakistan has been very good and supportive. I would like to admit it publicly that today if PTI is in government, the expatriate community of Pakistan has a significant role in it. We are a party that was supported and funded by oversees Pakistanis, and we recognise that and are grateful for that. So, it is the people of Pakistan and expat community that helped us and catapulted us into office and we are grateful to them.

“We want them to play a greater role in Pakistan through investments, supporting the country by being effective ambassadors in their respective countries, cities and profession, and also making an intellectual contribution to Pakistan. We have some outstanding professionals all over the world and we need them. Our institutions over the years have deteriorated and we need rejuvenation. We need fresh blood,” Qureshi added.
