Iranian takes 4 days to swim from Khasab to Bandar Abbas

Muscat: An Iranian teacher took four days to swim from Khasab in Oman to Bandar Abbas in Iran to mark a special day on the Iranian calendar.
Mohammed Amiri Roodan, the 47-year-old Iranian teacher left Khasab on May 2. He said to Times of Oman, “I am a teacher in Bandar Abbas.
It took me four days to complete the swim, and we split it in two parts. It did not feel difficult because I was able to rest at sea.”
The distance from Khasab to Bandar Abbas is slightly more than 120 kilometres.
The cities lie on either side of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 25 per cent of the world’s fuel resources pass.
Khasab is the capital of Governorate of Musandam, which gives the Sultanate joint control of the strait alongside Iran.
“I’ve been touring for 20 years, and in the past few years I’ve been doing some sporting activities across different parts of the world, including swimming and climbing,” Roodan added. “Last year, I swam from Qeshm to Bandar Abbas.”
Mohammed Amiri Roodan has undertaken long distance swimming and cycling tours in the past, and claims to have patented the Roodan Sikel, an amphibious bicycle, in Iran.
