Muscat: There are now more than 5,100 addicts receiving treatment in Oman, the Minister of Health told the Majlis Al Shura today.
Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sa’eedi, the Minister of Health, is being hosted by the Shura today and tomorrow to discuss the status of the health ministry and the progress it has made during the last five-year plan.
Earlier in a report, the Ministry of Health has said that the success rate of treating addicts in Oman is only 20 per cent and it is due to lack of comprehensive rehabilitation centres.
Al Massara Psychiatric Hospital is the only centre in Oman that seriously treats drug addiction but the facility has only 245 beds.
