Oman police raid illegal tailor shop

Muscat: A home in Ruwi was raided by the Royal Oman Police and Muscat Municipality after a number of expats used the residential home as a tailor's shop.

A statement by Muscat Municipality read, "The Urban Inspection Department coordinated with the Royal Oman Police to raid a home in Ruwi, Greater Muttrah, due to the presence of expatriate labourers who used the home as base for a tailor's activity.
"This is in violation of laws and regulations," the statement added. "The tools used in the operation have been confiscated, and the house itself has been closed down."

According to local municipal orders, commercial activities can only take place after a permit has been given for the activity, and activities must take place in designated areas with clear signs that display their services.
