Seoul: Two Indian Navy vessels arrived in South Korea to participate in the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (ADMM) Maritime Security Field Training Exercise (FTX).
The ships that docked in Busan were the INS Kolkata and INS Shakti.
The ADMM-Plus countries include ASEAN's 10 member states and eight additional countries. The other eight countries are Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the Russian Federation and the US.
The ADMM-Plus (ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting) is a platform for Association for Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its eight dialogue partners to strengthen security and defense cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region.
In a statement released on Twitter, a spokesman for the Indian Navy wrote, "In a demonstration of India’s Act East Policy and the Indian Navy’s increasing footprint and operational reach, IN Ships Kolkata and Shakti enter Busan, South Korea on a three-day visit. Its part of overseas deployment (OSD) of the Eastern Fleet to the South China Sea."
