Mumbai: The ripple effect from a software glitch that left thousands of Air India passengers stranded on Saturday will cause 137 flights from the carrier to be delayed Sunday.
According to an airline spokesperson, the average duration of the delay would be 197 minutes.
On Saturday, Air India delayed flights around the world after a software glitch affected its passenger system.
According to a press release issued by the carrier, the system, developed by SITA, experienced the issue while undergoing scheduled maintenance early Saturday morning. That led to
a delay to some flights globally.
According to an airline spokesperson, as many as 149 flights were delayed on Saturday as a result.
The system was restored by SITA.
In a statement issued on Saturday, SITA's Senior Manager Corporate Communications, Julius Baumann, said, "SITA experienced a complex system issue during server maintenance early this morning, which resulted in operational disruption to Air India flights. We have fully restored services at all airports where Air India were affected.
"We deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused to the airline and their customers owing to this disruption."
