Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower and closed at 3,950.34 points, down by 0.20 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 538.03 points, up by 0.05 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume and Oman Cement was the most active in terms of turnover. Sharqiyah Desalination, up 3.45 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Oman And Emirates Inv. Holding, which lost 4.71 per cent.
A total number of 353 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR896,000 with more than 7.87 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 18 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net sellers for OMR92,000 followed by foreigners investors for OMR42,000 worth of shares, while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR134,000.
Financial Index closed lower by 0.34 per cent at 6,367.76 points. There were no gainers on Wednesday. Oman And Emirates Inv. Holding, Muscat Finance, Al Madina Investment, National Life & General Ins and Al Sharqia Investment Holding were down by 4.71 per cent, 3.95 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 3.51 per cent and 2.44 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was lower by 0.32 per cent at 4,683.44 points. Oman Cement was up by 2 per cent. Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 4.69 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,036.01 points, down by 0.21 per cent. Sharqiyah Desalination was up by 3.54 per cent. OIFC, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power and Omantel were down by 2.33 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.
