Schools in Oman to remain shut due to inclement weather

Muscat: All private and government schools in Oman will be closed tomorrow, Sunday, April 14, the Ministry of Education has announced.

This decision, however, does not apply to schools in the Governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta.

The decision was made after warnings were issued by the Public Authority Civil Aviation that the weather may take a turn for the worse in the next 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry said, "After coordinating with the Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, the Ministry of Education would like to announce schooling in private and government schools will be suspended throughout the governorates of the Sultanate with the exception of Dhofar and Al Wusta tomorrow Sunday, April 14, 2019, to be resumed day after tomorrow, Monday, April 15 2019."

According to the ministry, this decision was made “to ensure that all necessary precautions are made to ensure the safety of all schools and academic staff."
