Secret Service Director to leave post: White House

Washington: The head of the US Secret Service (USSS) will be leaving his position soon, the White House confirmed.

The White House Press Secretary announced the departure of USSS Director Randolph Alles in a statement.

She said, "Mr. Alles will be leaving shortly and President Trump has selected James M. Murray, a career member of the USSS, to take over as director beginning in May."

The confirmation came after US news outlets reported the personnel change one day after Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen exited the administration.

Alles, 65, was appointed to his current post on 25 April 2017 after working as the Acting Deputy Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Prior to that, he served in the US Marine Corps for 35 years, retiring in 2011 as a Major General.
