American tourist kidnapped in Uganda

Kampala: An American tourist and her driver were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Uganda, local authorities confirmed.

Ofwono Opondo, a Ugandan government spokesperson said that four armed assailants ambushed and kidnapped the duo in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The police have identified the victims as 35 year old American Kimberley Sue and her local driver Jean Paul.

Polly Namaye, Deputy Police Spokesperson for the Ugandan Police said, “The kidnappers, using the victim’s cellphone, have demanded $500,000.”

An elite police unit has been dispatched to apprehend the gunmen and rescue the victims.
