Muscat: On this day, 10 years ago, Mohsin Al Busaidi became the first Omani to sail around the world on a trimaran called Musandam to create history.
Speaking to Times of Oman, Busaidi recollected the journey and his biggest joys from the trip.
“It was a difficult trip. Musandam was struck by a whale less than 10 days after setting sail and underwent changes of parts,” he said. Mohsin and the crew completed their 76 day journey successfully.
“It was a very challenging journey but to be part of history is what made me happy,” he said.
The total journey took “76 days, 1 hour, 12 minutes, 42 seconds,” Mohsin said.
Apart from Busaidi, Musandam had international crew led by Loik Gallon (FR), Thierry Duprey Du Vorsent (FR), Charles Darbyshire (UK) and Nick Houchin (UK).”
