Muscat: Harub Dental Surgery (HDS), the first Omani owned and operated dental clinic in the country opened another branch in Shatti Al Qurum on Wednesday.
The practice was founded in 1977 by Dr. Harub bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, in what is commonly known as Honda Road in Waljah, but the new branch has been designed and equipped to outclass any other dental clinic in the Sultanate.
The new clinic was opened by Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health with Dr. Harub Al Kharusi and his family hosting many famous names among the invited guests.

Talking to Times of Oman, the Minister said: "Established in 1977, it is the first dental clinic run, owned and operated by an Omani dentist. What I saw today inside this clinic is the latest equipment. The staff working in the clinic is highly qualified. I wish to see more private sector and healthcare establishments providing excellent healthcare for everyone in Oman."
The new clinic, located on the highway in Shatti Al-Qurum just past the Royal Opera House, has ample parking and a welcoming entrance for customers that includes access for those with disabilities. The atmosphere is that of a spa, rather than the usual clinical space.
Dr. Mohammed Al Kharusi, Dr. Harub’s son and himself an experienced Dental Surgeon said : “That is precisely the feel that we were going for; patients need to feel relaxed and at ease when entering a dental practice.”
"The branch is equipped with the latest technology; starting with lasers, digital x-rays, 3D CT scans, intra oral cameras, up to aligner technology (invisible braces) used for orthodontic treatment. HDS also holds the latest type of CAD/CAM machinery that can mill a crown or a bridge for patients in a single visit.”
"Today, when we have a patient with a missing tooth, we can use a 3D scan to plan the implant placement in the jaw, then use the CEREC (CAD/CAM machine) to design the crown on top of the implant. We can therefore place an implant and a crown in the same visit,” the Dental Surgeon added.
All thirteen dentists and specialists at HDS are highly qualified, having graduated with university degrees and diplomas from top universities all around the world.
"The practitioners constantly update their knowledge and skills by attending conferences and training courses, which is a requirement for all those working in at HDS," Dr. Mohammed said.
