#OmanPride: Lamya finds a niche in Oman's make-up world

Muscat: Lamya Al Mawali, a passionate make-up artist based in Oman, started her journey about 10 years ago.
Lamya rose to fame after winning the ‘Maxfactor Make-up Artist Hunt 2012’.
This was the beginning, but her venture has been progressing well and creating new milestone every year.
For women, especially in this part of the world, make-up plays a crucial role.
Thus, a lot of attention is often paid to the intricate details that highlight and enhance a woman’s face. It is the portrayal of a woman’s mood and her personality.
Thus, over a period of time women begin sharing a close bond with brushes and pencils and develop an artistic adeptness when it comes to making use of makeup palettes on their faces.

Skills put to test
All these skills were put to test at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa when five finalists, out of the 50 budding make-up artists participating in the three-part competition, displayed their talents at the Maxfactor Makeup Artist Hunt 2012.
The artists were competing for the top prize, which was two nights’ stay at the Shangri-La Barr al Jissah Resort and one year’s supply of Max Factor make-up, valued at OMR500.
Lamya Al Mawali stole the show with her smokey-eye look and was crowned the winner by Joelle Mardinian, Max Factor’s regional creative director and star of her own reality show on MBC. Though Lamya had not expected the win, she has now come a long way as a successful freelance makeup artists who is soon to start her own salon,to be named Flamingo East Beauty Centre.
She is a true inspiration for all Omani women who aspire to do big things and make a mark using the skills that they are gifted with. Lamya is an apt example of taking her skills and interests in the right path and enhancing them over time to finally develop them into her source of income and way of life.
