Down Syndrome Day event helps to raise awareness

Muscat: The Ministry of Health, represented by the Department of Woman and Child Health has joined Oman Down Syndrome Association in celebrating the World Down Syndrome Day, which falls on March 21 every year.
The celebration was organised at Oasis Mall under the theme “Leave No One Behind”, under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki bin Mahmoud Al Said.
The participation of the Ministry of Health aimed to raise awareness of the families with down syndrome children along with the awareness of the society on the health services provided to such children and their families.
Such services include early examination and medical check-up during pregnancy and detecting of congenital abnormalities using sonar rays, post-delivery clinical examinations, provision of medical advice, provision of special care for newly born children and periodical examinations such other services.
