Muttrah’s bounty from the sea

At the end of Muttrah Corniche, towards Sultan Qaboos Port, you can see fishermen land the day’s catch.

Destined for the bustling Muttrah Fish Market right on the harbour, the bounty from the sea are hauled by the cartload.

Fish so fresh, they have yet to be freed from the tangle of nets.

Meanwhile, off to one side are fishermen mending their nets, preparing for the next trip out into the Gulf of Oman.

This idyllic scene is a vestige of Muttrah’s long history with fish and commerce.
