Muscat Airport named most improved airport in the Middle East

Muscat: Muscat International Airport has been awarded ‘Most Improved Airport-Middle East’ at the Airports Council International’s 2018 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. “We are delighted with this achievement,” said Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni, CEO of Oman Airports, “It comes within our endeavours to achieve the national strategic aspirations and objectives in the sectors of ‘Travel and Tourism’ with all our partners.”
“We hereby take the opportunity to praise this achievement of the Muscat International Airport family and all strategic partners involved,” Al Hosni added.
The passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport opened on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, with the capacity for 20 million passengers per year. The airport also has a 4 km runway, a 103-metre air observation tower, an air cargo terminal, and a catering terminal, as well as an aircraft maintenance building and other airport terminals.
The airport already received a number of international awards, last year it was voted the Best New Middle East Tourism Development Project just four weeks after starting its commercial operations, Muscat airport also won the prestigious title of the World’s Leading New Airport in 2018 at the World Travel Awards.
Muscat International airport was also the recipient of the prestigious Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment 2018 in the Best Private Sector eService category for its Data eServices.
