Report on medical profession draft law approved by State Council

Muscat: The draft law of statistics and information was discussed yesterday by the State Council at its 6th regular session of the 4th annual convening of the sixth term.
The draft law was referred to the state council by the Council of Ministers along with the report of the Economic Committee on the draft law.
The session was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.
The State Council session approved the report of the Joint Committee of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura, which addressed some articles in the draft law regulating the profession of medicine and assisting medical professions.
Dr Al Mantheri said that today’s 7th regular session would discuss the draft law of the unified regulation organising the activity of private companies operating in the field of express courier and dispatching parcels to AGCC States, which is referred to the State Council by the Council of Ministers.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Harthi, Chairman of the Economic Committee presented the statement of the committee on the draft law of Statistics and Information, which he said incorporated 37 articles divided into six chapters.
He said that the “draft law has kept abreast of the developments in the field and included significant details”.
The draft law of statistics and information aimed to provide reliable official statistics in the various fields and to update the statistics in order to cope with the latest developments in the field and to put in place national criteria for official statistics in the Sultanate.
