
Muscat: The Arab Human Resources Conference, implemented by the Ministry of Civil Service in cooperation with the First Care Company, began yesterday.
The aim of the conference is to identify the human resources situation in the institutions, to show the role of human resources management from a strategic perspective, to enhance the role of competencies and talents in the management of institutional change, innovation and modernisation and their impact on the future of institutions, performance evaluation to motivate influential individuals to institutional development and active participation in the discussion sessions reflecting best practices in institutions.
Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, patron of the opening ceremony said in a statement that man is the foundation of development and its tools and purpose and on him the success of its policies counts, adding that Oman, thanks to the guidance of His Majesty the Sultan, since the beginning of the blessed Renaissance has been keen on developing the human resources, in terms of qualifying and training them.
The Minister of Civil Service stressed that this conference reflects the active partnership between the public and private sectors to implement such initiatives and events in support of the development of work and the development of human resources.
Naif bin Ahmed al- Shanfari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the First Care Company, delivered a speech in which he mentioned that the conference is one of the most important interactive platforms to deal with the development of the human resources. He added “it is about how leaders can see talent management development, activate change management, stimulate innovation, R & D, training, polarisation and practices that develop individual culture and work.”
The first day of the conference included two main sessions, they entitled “The Reality of HR in Institutions”, chaired by Dr. Hamdan bin Ibrahim al-Mohammad, Director of the Director of the National Research Centre for Giftedness and Creativity at King Faisal University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It included a number of themes, most notably was the “Diagnosis of the Human Resources Reality” presented by Maan Samara, CEO of Transcell Group, and the “Characteristics of the Successful Management of Human Resources “ presented by Farid Ramzi al-A’ssi, consultant and human resource expert and training director of the former United Nations (UNRWA).
The second session was entitled “Leadership and its Strategic Role in the Development of Human Resources”. It was chaired by Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al- Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Service for Administrative Development Affairs. It included a number of important themes like ‘’ the Role of Leaderships in Realizing Objectives of Institutions’’ by Dr. Abdullah bin Abbas bin Ahmed, former Chairman of Muscat Municipality, ‘’ Mechanisms of Attracting Copatancies and Talents and Keeping them by Saur Jouni, Human Resources and Organizational Development specialist in Singapore, “The impact of Investment in Human Capital on the Achievement of Development Plans” , presented by Dr. Waleed Abdul-Mulla, an adviser at the Arab Planning Institute in the State of Kuwait .
The conference also included two seminars: the Leadership of Change by Farid Ramzi al-A’ssi, consultant and human resource expert and training director of the former United Nations (UNRWA). The second workshop was entitled Mechanisms for Attracting and Motivating Talent by Saur Jouni, Human Resources and Organizational Development Specialist in Singapore.
The second day of the conference will consist of three main sessions: the first session, “Discovering Competencies and Talents for Institutional Development”, the second session entitled “Management of Change and Institutional Development”, and the third session entitled “Innovation and Institutions of the Future. “ The second day of the conference will feature two workshops: “”the Leadership of Digital Transformation in Institutions” and ‘Future Institutions and their Characteristics.”
The conference is one of the most interactive platforms to keep pace with the development of the world of human resources and is organized in partnership with a group of speakers, consultants, experts and public and private participation to ensure the expansion of the knowledge base and the knowledge cycle and learn about local and international best practices.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, undersecretaries, and officials from inside and outside the Sultanate.
