27 arrested for attempting to illegally entering Oman

Muscat: 27 immigrants were arrested after trying to sneak into Oman on a boat.

A statement by the Royal Oman Police read, "Police patrols have discovered a boat which was used to smuggle foreign nationals into the country near Ras Abu Dawwod, in the Wilayat of Qurayat. 27 seven people of different nationalities were found on board the boat.

"Legal proceedings are being carried out against the immigrants," the statement added.

According to Oman's residency laws, it is illegal to enter the Sultanate through any point other than official entrances and exit and with coordination with permission from the correct police officers. In addition, a passport or other travel document must be presented.
