Muscat: Oman's government has asked people to avoid using aluminum foil in cooking, due to its negative effects on human health.
North Al Batinah Municipality said in a warning leaflet: "Avoid using aluminum foil in the process of cooking or packing food and inserting it into the oven because the excess heat of the cooking leads to the exit of the aluminum metal element from the paper to the food, and interacts with it especially if you use lemon and vinegar in the cooking process."
"The accumulation of the aluminum element in the body leads to serious diseases." The Municipality added, "It can be replaced with heat resistant cooking bags or natural materials such as thick vegetable leaves."
