Muscat: Competence HR recently concluded Module 3 in the third edition of the Leadership Development Programme (LDP) which marks the completion of the first half of the programme with three remaining modules to go.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Omran, the National Bank of Oman, Omantel, Oman Flour Mills, Oman Post, Oman LNG, and Al Mouj Muscat, the programme engages leading talents from 46 government and private institutions over a period of six months, concluding in May 2019.
LDP’s engagement of participants features executive training, workshops, and fieldtrips to observe industry best practices and management techniques, supplemented by ‘Meet the Leader’ sessions where trainees interact with the proven market leaders and dignitaries, before concluding with a range of deliverables. It is worth noting that Module 2 featured Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Services as guest of the ‘Meet the Leader’ session.
The first three modules of the programme, held in December, January and February respectively, included team building activities and management training workshops led by Eng. Amer Al Fadhil, Managing Director of Competence HR, who further outlined strategic projects that will extend throughout the duration of the 6-month programme. Having established rapport with their peers, the cadre further explored a range of project management and media management approaches with Eng. Bilal Abulzait, professional Project Management Consultant.
Commenting during the programme, Eng. Amer Al Fadhil said, “Oman has always prioritized the development of human resources, and in order to achieve various aspects of the national agenda this must remain a top priority as well as a point of pride."
"The modernisation of a government and the industries operating beneath it does not happen without a significant change in mind-set when it comes to emerging markets, and that is precisely what we aim to achieve through our refined programme. Motivation, enhanced skill sets, and an appetite for change will make all the difference. This is also something we have already seen in previous editions of the LDP,” he added.
Moving forward, participants will further hone their training and project work, and participate in meeting with a range of industry and government leaders.
Al Fadhil added, “As a public private partnership initiative, LDP contributes to the development of Oman’s future leaders. To-date, we have celebrated the achievement of 80 graduates who have gone forth to succeed in both the public and private sector. We do this by focusing on three core aspects; strategic thinking, execution, and personal leadership. Having developed successful long-term partnerships with a number of leading government clients from across the Gulf we were able to enrich our catalogue of scheduled speakers to some of the GCC’s leading authorities for our third edition of the LDP”.
Speakers in the programme include Dr Nabil Al Yousuf, Chief Executive Officer of International Advisory Group, the former Director General of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and the Ruler of Dubai; in addition to Dr Wafi Dawood a Board Member and CEO of Strategy and Planning in the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Dubai Quality Group, and Vice Chairman of the Global Benchmarking Network; and Dr Yasar Jarrar, a Senior Partner at International Advisory Group, Vice Chair on the Global Agenda Council on the Future of Government at the World Economic Forum, and Advisor to the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation.
