Ironman race begins in Muscat

MUSCAT: With the participation of more than 1000 athletes, Ironman Championship, kicked-off in Muscat today.
In a statement issued online, Ministry of Toursim said: "More than 1,000 participants from 54 countries are participating in the event, which organised by Triathlon Middle East and sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism."
The race started from Qurum beach (behind Intercontinental Muscat) on Friday morning.
Ministry added: "The start of the Iron Man Championship 70.3, beginning with the swimming race for 1.9 km. Then the cyclist will race in Muscat roads for 90 kilometers, on path that passes through the most important tourist sites in the governorate.”
