Expats jailed for trading counterfeit products

After the seizure of more than 3,000 counterfeit cleaning products, 2 expats were jailed for trading counterfeit goods and manipulating their dates in Muscat.

"The Court of First Instance in Muscat recently issued a court ruling against defendants accused of selling counterfeit goods and not providing the consumer with correct information of the products.” - PACP, Public Authority for Consumer Protection

The Authority has received a complaint from a consumer that a company manipulated the dates of its cleaning products and sold to commercial centres.

After investigating the company's products to verify the information, it has been confirmed that there is a discrepancy in the dates of production and expiry.
