Muscat: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened an emergency meeting to discuss the situation on the Line of Control (LOC), state-owned Radio Pakistan has confirmed.
Pakistan has accused neighbouring India of violating the LOC. The Indian government, on the other hand, claims that air force jets carried out air strikes on militant camps across the LOC in an intelligence-led operation.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that Pakistan reserves the right to self-defence following the incursion.
"India has conducted a violation of the Line of Control and Pakistan reserves the right to an appropriate response," he said.
According to the Pakistani military, it 'effectively responded to the violation', contradicting India's claims.

In a statement, Director General, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, said, "Indian aircrafts' intrusion across LOC in Muzafarabad Sector within AJ&K was 3-4 miles. Under forced hasty withdrawal, aircrafts' released payload which had free fallen in an open area. No infrastructure got hit, no casualties."
The incident marks a major escalation of tensions between the two countries, which have grown steadily since the Pulwama terror attacks in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The attack killed 40 Indian paramilitaries.
Pakistani officials from opposition parties meanwhile have called for unity.
Former Foreign Minister and Pakistan Muslim League member Khawaja Asif, said on floor of the National Assembly”let’s forget our differences for sometime and stand behind our armed forces and give a message across the border that we are united behind Kashmiris.”
Others in Pakistan have questioned the veracity of India's claims.
