Hermitage Day to be held at National Museum in Oman

Muscat: The National Museum will host a series of cultural events in forthcoming March entitled Hermitage Day under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture and Chairman of the Museum’s Board of Trustees, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Sultanate’s National Museum and the Hermitage Museum in the Russian Federation.
The programme includes a lecture in Arabic on “Secrets of Oriental Collections in the Hermitage Museum” by Prof. Mikhail Piotrowski, Director of Hermitage, and two workshops on preservation and conservation, in addition to an expo of Russian national treasures related to the East.
The expo will continue until May 31. Founded in 1764, the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, is one of the largest museums in the world and contains more than three million masterpieces. It is one of the oldest museums in the world.
