34,828 commercial activities registered in 2018 third quarter

Muscat: The number of registered commercial activities during the third quarter of 2018 was 34,828 compared with 32,567 in the same period of 2017.
The statistics department of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that there were 6,166 construction contractors activities registered, the largest among the other activities.
This was followed by export and import offices with 4,355 activities. Some 3,605 activities of grocery stores were in the third position among the top registered activities during the third quarter of 2018.
With 3,305 activities, coffee shops which mainly provide food got fourth position; with 3,293 activities, the sewing and stitching of Arab and non-Arab ladies' dresses was in fifth position; with 3,073, coffee shops selling primarily beverages were in sixth position; with 2,898, cold storages were seventh; and men’s hair dressing was the eighth top activity registered in the third quarter of the year 2018 with 2,851.
Similarly, the supply sector was ninth with 2,760 activities and laundry and cloth iron was tenth, with 2,522 activities during the period.
