According to the data, there are “412 hotel establishments and 22,182 hotel rooms in Oman”. Figures also showed that the Governorate of Muscat has the highest number of hotel establishments with 155 hotels and 12,106 hotel rooms, followed by Southern Sharqiyah with 52 hotels and just over a thousand hotel rooms.
Musandam and A’Dhahirah Governorates both have less than 10 hotel establishments, yet Musandam has more than five times as many hotel rooms as Al Dhahirah does.
The data further revealed that 57 per cent of all the hotel establishments in Oman are located in the northern parts of the Sultanate, with 238 hotels and 15,119 hotel rooms spread across Al Buraimi, Musandam, Northern Batinah, Southern Batinah and Muscat Governorates.
Several hotels are also set to open in Muscat this year, such as the W Hotel in Qurum Beach, the Marriott Hotel behind the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hilton Gardens Inn, the House Hotel, and the five-star Jumeirah Muscat Bay and Sahab Resort & Spa, Jabal Akhdar.
Hilton Garden Inn is set to debut in Muscat’s Al Khuwair district on February 25 2019. The 232-guestroom Hilton Garden Inn Muscat Al Khuwair will offer convenient access to some of the city’s finest restaurants, as well as the Oman Avenues, Panorama and MGM Malls, that are located just five minutes away from the hotel.
“We are delighted to be bringing the award-winning upper midscale Hilton Garden Inn brand experience to guests, residents, and the people of the Sultanate in the exciting capital city of Muscat,” said Hendrick Calles, the General Manager.
Guests will be able to select from several room types, including standard, family, superior rooms, as well as one and two bedroom suites, ensuring they enjoy a comfortable stay.
One of the more technologically advanced aspects of the new hotel will be its digital key option, which will allow guests to unlock their rooms using their smartphones for the first time in the Sultanate.
Hilton Garden Inn Muscat Al Khuwair will also be the city’s first pet-friendly international hotel. The hotel will also have facilities for outdoor activities such as a tennis court, jogging trail, restaurant and a fun play area for children.
Apart from having two rooftop infinity pools (ladies only and mixed-use), two fitness centres and two kids pools, located on either side of the hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Muscat Al Khuwair will also have a 24/7 shop, where guests will be able to buy souvenirs, refreshments, to-go meals, snacks and other essentials.
