Muscat: Omani karate referees have succeeded in adding the number of international badges of karate refereeing based on World Karate Federation in kata and kumite .
This happened after doing referee promotion course tests of the world karate championship(Premier league karate 1 Dubai 2019 ).
The course had been conducted under the supervision of The World Karate Federation in cooperation with Emirate Karate Federation.
240 referees participated in the course for both male and female referees at Mariot Hotel hall in Dubai between from February 10 to 14 2019 .
The addition of the international badge came for the following referees: Farid bin Mohammed Al Shihaibi in kata & kumite refereeing, Salim bin Darwish Al Qutaiti in kata refereeing , Salim bin Sulaiman Al Masroori in kumite refereeing, Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Hinai in kata refereeing, Nasma Wanas in kata.
This happened after Omani referees got recognition recently: Ahmed bin Said Al Zakawani, Yousuf bin Musallam Al Siyabi, Sulaiman bin Khalifa Al Hinai and Hilal bin Mohammed Al Abdali. The number of referees who have obtained the international badge has reached nine .
The international referees including the continental referee Mohyi Lutfi took part in managing the contests of the world karate league championship(Karate Premier League 1 Dubai 2019 ).
The three-day championship was conducted under the auspices of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and the chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
The event was conducted in Alwasl Club hall in Dubai four times consecutively.
A total of 737 male and female players representing 86 countries around the world participated in the championship which was attended by the Spanish Antonio Asbinos, the chairman of the world karate league and vice president Major General (p) Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, the chairman of Emirates Karate Federation.
The event witnessed thrilling contest when it reached the points of the World League qualifying for Tokyo Olympics 2020 after the approval of karate in the Olympics.
