US Progress Centre delegation briefed on Oman policies

Muscat: Sheikh Dr. Al-Khattab bin Ghalib Al Hinai, Vice-Chairman of the State Council, on Monday, received a delegation from the Centre for American Progress, which is currently visiting the Sultanate.
Underscoring the strong relations between the Sultanate and the United States, Al Hinai welcomed the efforts of the two friendly countries in developing these relations to include many areas of cooperation that serve their interests and benefit them.
He stressed that the Sultanate is keen to establish good relations with all countries, and works to spread peace in the region and contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security in accordance with the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Al Hinai pointed out that the Sultanate attaches great importance to the development of human resources and in this regard, he pointed out to the spread of educational and training institutions at all levels throughout the Sultanate.
The Sultanate is making efforts to achieve economic diversification by identifying a number of promising sectors. He highlighted the advantages and incentives provided by the government to encourage investments in these sectors. He also noted the economic vision of Oman 2040 and its role in enhancing the development path in the Sultanate. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed.
For his part, Brian Catlos, a member of the delegation of the Centre for American Progress, said that the centre, which was established in 2003, conducts research on public policies and the economy, and includes a number of programmes.
He expressed the delegation’s happiness at visiting the Sultanate and learning about the Blessed Renaissance that led to development across all fields.
The delegation viewed a documentary film about the evolution of the Shura process and the role of the State Council in national action. The meeting was attended by Dr. Badria Ibrahim Khalfan Al Shihi, Council member, Said bin Ali Al Kalbani, State Council member and Assistant Secretary General for Public Information and Public Relations of the Council.
