Cricket: Kamaljot steers Orient Travels to emphatic win

MUSCAT: Impressive all-round performance by Kamaljot Singh helped Orient Travels GBL to an emphatic 5-wicket victory against NBO in a D Division match at Muscat Municipality ground 3 in Amerat on Friday.
Asked to bat first, NBO posted a healthy 164 for 6 in 20 overs thanks to brilliant batting by Syed Arfan Ali, who topscored with a stylish 78 off 58. Kamaljot was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 18 while Rashid Mohammed claimed two wickets.
Bolstered by crucial partnerships, Orient Travels made steady progress towards chasing down what looked like a stiff target. It was left to Kamaljot to take his team through to 165 for 5 in the 19th over with a fighting 25 not out off 19 balls. Ibrar Hussain and Anill Kumar were its main contributors with personal scores of 41 and 40 respectively. Maanas Kapoor took two wickets for NBO.

TR Engineering win
Javed Shaikh’s magnificent match-winning all-round show powered TR Engineering to a big 88-run win over Jotun in a G Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 1.
Javed slammed 110 off only 59 balls to lift TR Engineering to an imposing 188 for 8, Haris Alam lending valuable support with a fluent 41. Geo James bagged 3 for 35.
Failing to mount a challenge, Jotun could manage only 100 for 9 in 20 overs as Javed claimed 3 for 15.
Brief scores: TR Engineering 188 for 8 in 20 overs (Javed Shaikh 110 – 14x4, 4x6, Haris Alam 41 – 5x4, 1x6. Geo James 3-35, Sasikumar 2-33) trounced Jotun 100 for 9 in 20 overs (Amal Raj 21 – 2x4. Javed Shaikh 3-15, Shareef Al Balushi 2-25) by 88 runs.
Aster Hospital win
In another G Division match, Aster Hospital scored an exciting 4-wicket win against Bowshar Olympic Center (BOC) at Muscat Municipality ground 3.
Batting first, BOC scored 152 for 3 in 20 overs, Tanuj Sivakumar leading the way with brilliant 73 not out and Shanmugurajan contributing 48.
Aster Hospital raced to the target in only the 17thy over, scoring 153 for 6 thanks to major contributions from Muhammed Basheer (49), Vikram Vishwas (33) and Noushad K (26 not out).
