Muscat: Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali (late), Founder and Editor in Chief of Times of Oman, the Sultanate’s first and largest English daily, was posthumously conferred a “Certificate of Appreciation” for lifelong services to the Pakistan-Oman Friendship and Social Welfare by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
“From the 1960s to 2013, Mr. Zedjali’s professional accomplishments as an administrator, diplomat, businessman and journalist are praiseworthy, as was his dedication to the wellbeing of numerous Pakistani nationals, humanitarian relief activities during times of natural calamities and endless services to the bilateral friendship which stand acknowledged with deep respect and appreciation,” said the foreign minister.
Muscat Media Group Chairman Mohamed Issa Al Zadjali, son of the late Mr. Zedjali, received the award on behalf of the family. Expressing appreciation over the recognition, Mohamed reaffirmed his commitment to furthering the bridges of Pakistan-Oman friendship.
His Highness Sayyid Faris bin Fatik Al Said and Abdulsalam Al Murshidi, Executive President of the State General Reserve Fund, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. Mohamed Omar Ahmed Al Marhoon, the Ambassador of Oman to Pakistan, also attended the ceremony.
The “Special Ceremony” saw the participation of 75 Omani intellectuals, businessmen, the media and Pakistani people. It was hosted and moderated by Ambassador of Pakistan Ali Javed on January 31, at Crowne Plaza Hotel.
