Expat worker seriously injured in construction accident

Muscat: An expat worker has been seriously injured after falling into a 12-metre deep pit at a construction site, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) announced.
According to authorities, the worker fell into a "12-meter deep construction pit in Darsait in Wilayat Muttrah."
In a statement, PACDA said, "The operations centre at the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance received a report stating that a person of Asian nationality fell into a construction pit in Darsit. Immediately, the rescue and ambulance teams went to the site."
When authorities arrived, it was found that the person was working in an “excavation project carried out by a company."
The teams managed to rescue him from the 12-meter pit by using special equipment and tools to deal with such incidents.
The worker was given emergency medical care and transferred to a hospital “due to severe injury.”
PACDA has called upon companies to comply with safety requirements at work sites in order to avoid such incidents.
