Al Muthayil band from Shinas wows visitors with traditional performance

Muscat: Visitors to the Muscat Festival experienced a rich traditional performance from the Al Muthayil band from wilayat Shinas.
Nasser Al Mazroui, the team leader, said: “We participated in the Muscat Festival in Al Naseem Park and in Al Amerat. We also participated in the Salalah Tourism Festival, during Eid holidays and National Day celebrations.”
The band has also played overseas in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates at weddings and other such events.
Stating that the band relies on a set of tools and instruments such as the oud and drums to perform, Al Mazroui said, “We set up the band to revive the heritage and to instill the idea behind this art to future generations.”
Regarding the band’s future plans, the team leader said, “In the near future, we aspire to participate in international festivals. We want to present popular tunes to the audience, while preserving the authentic Omani voice and spirit.”
