Omani-Pakistani Joint Committee to meet today

Muscat: Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office received in his office yesterday Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, currently visiting the Sultanate to chair the 7th session of the Omani-Pakistani Joint Committee scheduled to be held today.
The meeting came within the framework of the bilateral relations between Oman and the friendly Islamic Republic of Pakistan. At the beginning of the meeting, Gen. Al Nu’amani welcomed the guest and his accompanying delegation.
Gen. Al Nu’amani stressed the deep relation between the Sultanate and Pakistan. On his turn, the Pakistani Minister commended the strong relations binding his country with the Sultanate.
The meeting discussed means of promoting and enhancing areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries. The meeting also discussed some regional and international issues of common concern.
Separately, Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs received in his office yesterday the Pakistani foreign minister.
The meeting reviewed the bilateral ties between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them. During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of following-up and promoting these relations on various fields of common concern.
Meanwhile, the 7th meeting of the Omani-Pakistani Joint Committee comes to stress the existing historic relations between Oman and Pakistan, and their friendly peoples, as well as to strengthen ties of the existing cooperation between them.
Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs will chair the Omani side, while Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan will chair the other side.
The meeting will discuss areas of cooperation, particularly related to promoting the economic relations and investment between the two countries, as well as means of enhancing them.
The meeting will be attended by a number of officials from both sides.
