After Qatari midfielder Hassan Al Haydos scored the third goal of the match, Al Balushi said, "Hassan Haydos, Dous Alaihum Dous," which when translated reads, "Hassan Haydos, Step on them, step on them." Post that, the commentator faced backlash on social media.

Al Balushi who is a commentator for BeinSports apologised on his personal account and said, “Sometimes commentators with all the enthusiasm and interaction utter uncalculated sentences. I was not successful in selecting the proper word during Qatar’s third goal and I apologise to the audience and to the respected people of the UAE. I repeat my apology and regret to all and I hope it will be accepted (sic).”

Qatar beat United Arab Emirates 4-0 to reach their first Asian Cup final on Tuesday. The 2022 World Cup hosts will now face four-time champions Japan in Friday's final.
