Pact for modern mobile service station in Oman signed

Muscat: Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) and the Ministry of Transport & Communications (MoTC) signed an agreement to build a temporary mobile service station at Al Rustaq on the Al Batinah Expressway.
A first in Oman and the first on the 270km new expressway, the initial phase of the service station will commence operations this month, providing services, including fuel products and drive-through F&B facilities.

A partner to commuters on the road, OOMCO has also set up plans with MoTC to establish four more mobile service stations across the highway by the end of February, two in North Al Batinah and two in South Al Batinah.
These innovative mobile service stations provide an immediate solution to motorists on the new expressway, allowing MoTC the time needed to map-out permanent station locations along the road. Offering fuel and non-fuel services, the 1,000sqm stations will also include prayer rooms and F&B facilities, both of which will open during the second phase of the project.

David Kalife, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Oil Marketing Company, said, “The new Al Batinah Expressway strategically connects 11 wilayats across two governorates to Muscat. As such, it plays a key role in growing the tourism and commercial sectors. OOMCO is a partner in the development of the country and therefore has a responsibility to ensure such a logistical asset is well serviced. By building these innovative mobile service stations, we will ensure motorists will be able to drive on the largest road project in the Sultanate worry-free.”
Committed to contributing to Oman’s economic growth, OOMCO previously introduced the mobile service stations in 2017 to meet the fuelling needs of B2B customers in the oil and gas, construction and transportation sectors.
The stations are designed to have a minimal effect on the environment with a built-in system that prevents oil leaks and fires and is capable of storing around 50,000-100,000 litres of petrol.
