Muscat: Omani singing sensation Haitham Mohammed Rafi has been selected to compete on season nine of “The Voice of Ukraine” after impressing the show’s judges during a blind audition.
Rafi, who sang the song “Habibi”, won praise from the judges. He was later selected to compete as part of Moldovan singer and Grammy nominee Dan Balan’s team. The talent show congratulated Rafi on making it to the next round, saying, “Congratulations to Haitham on the show as part of team Balan!”
Rafi was introduced to fans of the show as someone who “sings in three languages: Arabic, English and Hindi”.
The show’s official Instagram account stated, “Despite the fact that he was born and lives in Oman, Haitham is fascinated by the Ukrainian music culture. One day, he accidentally found an episode of the Voice of Ukraine and was so impressed, he began watching the whole season. The opportunity to get into the project is his greatest dream,” it added.
The famous Omani singer got his first big break on an international talent show in India. Singing in Hindi on “Dil Hai Hindustani”, Rafi placed first among five finalists, winning the most votes from audiences around the world and being declared the overall winner of the show.
