State Council Chairman receives Inter Parliamentary Union chief

Muscat: Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council received in his office yesterday Gabriela Cuevas, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Head of the Foreign Relations Committee and Economy and Trade Committee at the Mexican Congress.
The meeting reviewed means of promoting the relations between the Sultanate and Mexico, in addition to discussing scope of cooperation between the State Council and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the State Council, Secretary General of the State Council and Deputy Chairman of the Majlis Al Shura.

Separately, Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of the Majlis Al Shura received at the headquarter of the Majlis yesterday Gabriela Cuevas, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, currently visiting the Sultanate.
During the meeting, Al Ma’awali gave a briefing on Majlis Al Shura and its stages of progress during the past three decades. He also touched on the legislative and oversight powers granted to the Majlis.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Deputy Chairman of the Majlis, Eng. Mohammed bin Abu Bakar Al Ghassani, Deputy Chairman of the Majlis and Sheikh Ali bin Nassir Al Mahrooqi, Secretary General of the Majlis.
On the sideline of the visit, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union toured building of the of the Majlis.
