MUSCAT: The international stage area at Muscat Festival in Naseem Park is an absolute delight for all visitors. Set up in an open space, the area is considered as one of the highly entertaining zones at the festival where various nationalities that include India, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, Russia, and Ukraine are performing tremendous acts.
“The main idea behind putting up a show like this is to introduce various cultures to the people of Oman, and at the same time, introduce this beautiful country that has rich history and down-to-earth people to those coming from abroad,” said Amr Sherbiny, one of the managers of the international group.

Both citizens and residents of Oman are taken aback by the quality of the show this year, as it has a mix of acrobats showing exceptional skills, jugglers, contortionists, magicians, a dance group performing Bollywood routines, and much more.
“This is my third time attending the festival and I can honestly say that the quality and variety of the performers are the best so far. It feels like you are watching a movie – full of entertainment. The best part is that each performance is back-to-back so there is no delay in between and it keeps us hooked,” said Samah Obeid, a resident of Muscat.
Another visitor at the international stage area said he thoroughly enjoyed the blend of various nationalities, as it gave him a bit of knowledge about the people and culture of the country.

“I don’t understand any other language besides Arabic and English but I loved watching India perform, especially the selection of the songs and music. Somehow, I felt connected to it. And I can’t believe that I am saying this but the Kenya Boys impressed me with their hip-hop performance. Watching this dance form is something rare in Oman but I thoroughly enjoyed it probably because it was live, and the music was good too. Such acts definitely speak a lot about the country, its people and culture,” said Yaqoob Al Hinai, a businessman based in Sohar.
The performance starts everyday from 4.30pm and continues until 11pm with prayer breaks in between. It is scheduled to go on until February 9, 2019.
