They confirmed that the multi-million rial City Centre Sohar is set to open this month and is in the final phase of construction, following a recent visit by government officials to the new property.

The new mall is located on the Al Batinah main road and will add 35,301 square metres of gross leasable area to the Sultanate’s booming retail sector. The opening of City Centre Sohar is part of Majid Al Futtaim’s investment plans to increase the company’s total investment in the Sultanate to OMR705 million by 2020.
City Centre Sohar will join Majid Al Futtaim’s growing portfolio of malls, communities, and retail areas located across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The company’s developments include the recently opened My City Centre Sur, the Sultanate’s first community shopping mall. Over OMR15 million was invested in the shopping centre, with the project expected to create 3,500 jobs.
Additionally, the company has continued to develop the Mall of Oman, which is set to be the largest shopping centre of its kind when it opens its doors in 2020. With over 130,000 square metres of gross leasable area, the mall will feature 350 stores.
Outside the Sultanate, Majid Al Futtaim is building a host of shopping destinations around the region. Its long list of projects under development includes City Centre Al Zahia and My City Centre Masdar, City Centre Al Maza in Egypt, in addition to City Centre Mall Ishbiliyah and Mall of Saudi in Riyadh.
