OMR250,000 rehab centre for children with disabilities opens

Muscat: A new rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities has opened in Oman, at a cost of OMR250,000.
H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development officially inaugurated the Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children in Liwa, North Batinah on Monday.
The project was implemented by the Jusoor Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development at a cost of OMR 250,000 and will provide rehabilitation services to more than 120 children with disabilities.
Also present at the event were His Excellency Sheikh Muhanna bin Saif bin Salim Al Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jusoor Foundation; and a number of their Excellencies and officials from the Sultanate's governorates.
H.E. Al Kalbani said that this project comes within the framework of continued cooperation with Jusoor Foundation, which is a role model in social responsibility.
Omar bin Mohammed Al-Abri, Acting Executive Director of Jusoor Foundation said: "The implementation of the rehabilitation project for handicapped children in Liwa is part of the social responsibility programme of Orpic, Sohar Aluminium, and Vale companies. The centre is built on a total area of 1,200 square metres. It includes 17 physiotherapy rooms, special education classes, speech therapy rooms, autism treatment hall, individual treatment rooms, and a theatre, as well as administrative offices."
The centre can accommodate children with a number of types of disabilities, including cerebral palsy, mental disabilities, autism, speech impairment.
