273 illegal expat workers arrested in Oman

Muscat: A total of 273 illegal expat workers were arrested in the the governorate of Muscat, officials from the Ministry or Manpower have said.

As part of the campaign, officials said, several residences that housed illegal expat workers were raided in Azaiba.

In a statement online the Ministry said, “The Ministry of Manpower and the Royal Oman Police carried out an inspection campaign early in the morning on Tuesday. [The campaign was conducted] on houses that were housing expatriate laboUr forces in Azaiba.”

The campaign resulted in the arrest of 273 illegal workers, the ministry added, “Legal proceedings are underway."
