Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition winners to be honoured today by RCA

Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Nasr bin Hamoud Al Kindi, Secretary General of the Royal Court Affairs (RCA) will patronise today, over honouring ceremony of winners of the 28th version of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Bausher.
His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate and Habib bin Mohammed Al Reyami, Secretary-General of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science, will deliver speeches on this occasion, in addition to listening to some competitors participating in the contest.
At the end of the ceremony, the chief guest will hand over awards and certificates of appreciation to the top winners, as well as the youngest and eldest participants, in addition to honouring the committees supervising the competition.
The number of participants this year reached 2,030 from all governorates of the Sultanate. The finalists were 49 participants, eight of them qualified for each level of the competition except for the second level where nine participants have qualified.
For the first time in the history of the competition, two inmates of the central prison in the Wilayat of Sumail have qualified for the first level (memorising the entire Holy Quran) with Tajweed. Persons with special needs, including hearing, visual impaired and autistic category, took part in the preliminaries of the competition.
