MUSCAT: Zahid Hafiz slammed 62 and Pradeep Salian picked up four wickets to power Sarco to a huge 122-run victory against Al Mardhuf in a B Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 1 in Amerat on Friday.
Batting first, Sarco scored 225 for 9 in 30 overs thanks to major contributions by Hafiz, Ajay Menon (47) and Rakesh Patel (32). Abdul Rauf and Shuaib Ismael bagged three and two wickets respectively.
Al Mardhuf was then shot out for a paltry 103 in the 21st over, Shuaib Ismael top scoring with a fluent 62. Apart from Pradeep, Rakesh Patel bowled well too, taking 2 for 29.
Brief scores (B Division): Sarco 225 for 9 in 30 overs (Zahid Hafiz 62 – 8x4, 1x6, Ajay Menon 47 – 7x4, 1x6, Rakesh Patel 32 – 4x4. Abdul Rauf 3-47, Shuaib Ismael 2-29) thrashed Al Mardhuf 103 all out in 20.2 overs (Shuaib Ismael 65 – 11x4. Pradeep Salian 4-01, Rakesh Patel 2-26) by 122 runs.
Issa stars in win for E&Y
Young Issa Al Balushi whacked a strokeful 68 to steer Ernst and Young to an easy 7-wicket win over OCT Amerat at Muscat Municipality ground 2.
OCT Amerat batted its full quota of 30 overs but could score only 120 for 7. Salim Haider and Nasser Haider contributed 33 and 32 respectively. Rana Zeeshan took 3 for 23.
It took Ernst and Young only 8.2 overs to overhaul the small total, scoring 123 for 3 thanks to useful knock by Issa and Omar Sarfraz (37 not out). Nasser Haider claimed two wickets.

Naveed’s ton helps PDO
PDO run machine Abdul Naveed hit up a breezy unbeaten century to help his team to a comfortable 56-run victory against Al Fairuz at Muscat Municipality ground 1.
PDO amassed 195 for 4 in 20 overs thanks to brilliant batting by opener Naveed who remained not out at 121 and Rajesh Khetani who scored 25.
Al Fairuz failed to pose any serious threat, scoring only 139 for 8 in 20 overs. DharveshAsathtopscored with 34 while Manikandhan contributed 22. Fiyaz Kamal and Zakir Khan took two wickets each.
Brief scores (C Division): PDO 195 for 4 in 20 overs (Abdul Naveed 121 not out – 15x4, 1x6, Rajesh Khetani 25 – 2x4) beat Al Fairuz 139 for 8 in 20 overs (DharveshAsath 34 – 5x4, 1x6, Manikandhan 22 – 3x4. Fiyaz Kamal 2-14, Zakir Khan 2-23) by 56 runs.
Arjun’s 8-wicket spell
Indian School Darsait’s (ISD) Arjun Rajesh took 8 for 26 to power his team to 7-wicket victory against Indian School Al Seeb (ISAS) in a Junior League U-19 match at OC grassy ground 2.
ISAS was bundled out for 118 in 28 overs as unplayable Arjun ran through its batting line-up with consummate ease. ISD raced to the target in 22.4 overs, scoring 119 for 3 thanks to solid knocks by Mohammed Moin Qureshi (45) and Arjun Rajesh (38).
Brief scores (Junior League U-19): ISAS 118 all out in 28 overs (Mohammed Sameer 28 – 5x4. Arjun Rajesh 8-26) lost to ISD 119 for 3 in 22.4 overs (Mohammed Moin Qureshi 45 – 7x4, Arjun Rajesh 38 – 6x4) by 7 wickets.
