Expat arrested on charges of fraud in Oman

Muscat: An expat of “African nationality” has been arrested in the Wilayat of Seeb on charges of fraud, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has said.
According to officials, the accused attempted to rob an Omani national of OMR20,000 when he tried to convince him that he can double money using chemicals.
In a statement online, ROP said, “The Criminal Investigation Department of Seeb managed to arrest one African on charges of fraud. The accused [tried to] convince a citizen that he could convert white sheets into OMR50 notes using chemicals.
“The accused then asked the citizen to pay him OMR20,000 to buy the required tools. The citizen reported the matter to the ROP and then the accused was arrested," the official added.
