Assarain defeat Al Turki NMC, Muscat CT sink Enhance

MUSCAT: Left-arm spinner Shakeel Ahmad and middle order bat Nadeem Ahmed led Assarain to a comfortable five-wicket win against Al Turki NMC in a Premier Division game at Oman Cricket grassy ground 1 in Amerat.
Batting first, Al Turki was dismissed for 192 as Shakeel claimed four wickets in a 10-over spell in which he conceded only 28 runs. Sanuth Ebrahim, V S Sahiju and Kaleemullah took two wickets each.
Reduced to 76 for 5 in the 18th over, Assarain rode on an unbroken 117-run sixth wicket partnership between Nadeem (71 off 115) and Sindo Michael (51 off 77) to overhaul the modest total.
Assarain now leads the team standings with 20 points from 6 outings, followed by Passage to India’s 16 from 5 games. Muscat is third with 12 points from 7 matches.

In another Premier Division match, Jatinder Singh’s unbeaten 105 was instrumental in putting Muscat CT back on winning track with an emphatic 8-wicket victory against Enhance.
Enhance batted first and posted 262 for 7 thanks to Khurram Khan 73 not out in which he slammed 6 big sixes. Unnikrishnan, captain Wasim Ali and Noorul Riaz were the other main scorers with 63, 48 and 41 respectively. Muscat top order, led by Jatinder (105 off 131), batted strongly to chase a sizeable total in 44 overs. Waibhav Wategaonkar (67 off 77) and Ayaan Khan (58 not out off 42, including 6 sixes) batted superbly too as Muscat reached 264 for 2 for its third win of the season.

Vamshi Vadthya of MDC Enhance Eagles struck 77 off 87 to script an exciting 4-wicket victory against Ooredoo in an A Division game at OC grassy ground 2.
Ooredoo was bundled out for 184 in 43 overs, Muhamed Waqas top scoring with 38 and Irfan Khalid contributing a whirlwind 31 off 14, including 3 sixes. Allan Gawdya bagged three wickets for Eagles. Vamshi laid the victory foundation with a 98-run partnership for the third wicket with Sudeep Chavan who scored 48 off 37 that included 2 huge sixes too. Vijay Anand and Aqib Javed took two wickets each.
