Cricket: Attic Outdoors registers emphatic win

MUSCAT: Qasim Ahmed’s superb 64-ball 89 was the highlight of Attic Outdoors’ convincing 49-run win over Mott MacDonald in a C Division match at Muscat Municipality ground 2 in Amerat on Friday.
Batting first, Attic Outdoors posted 147 for 5 on the board in 20 overs thanks to Qasim’s brilliant knock that included 3 big sixes too. Mohammed Shahid chipped in with a useful 27. Prakash Kesarkar picked up two wickets.
Attic Outdoors bowlers took full control of Mott MacDonald’s chase, dismissing it for a paltry 98 in the 19th over. Rooswin Anto and Rajesh Devashya claimed 3 wickets each while Toseef ul Hassan took 2 for 15.
Brief scores: Attic Outdoors 147 for 5 in 20 overs (Qasim Al Ahmed 89 – 10x4, 3x6, Mohamad Shahid 27 – 3x4. Prakash Kesarkar 2-27) trounced Mott MacDonald 98 all out in 18.4 overs (Prsanth Ganapthay 24 – 1x4, 2x6. Rooswin Anto 3-22, Rajesh Devashya 3-28, Toseef ul Hassan 2-15) by 49 runs.
Orient Travels win
In a D Division clash, Orient Travels GBL rode on Ibrar Hussain’s magnificent 100 not out for an exciting 6-wicket victory against Khalsa United at the same venue.
Asked to bat first, Khalsa did well to score 166 for 6, Sushil Kadam leading the way with a fluent 69 off 47 and Iftikhar Ahmed contributing 22. Majid Rafique and Muhammed Umar bagged two wickets each.
Opener Ibrar led the chase with an unbeaten century off 65 balls with Syed Mohammed scoring a useful 24 off 16 as Orient Travels surpassed the target in 19 overs, scoring 167 for 4.

Ismail shines for NBO Muzn
Ismail Ghulam Al Balushi struck a strokeful 74 off 44 to power NBO Muzn to a thrilling 3-run win against Unique Elegant in an E Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 3.
Opting to bat first, NBO Muzn was able to score 169 before being all out in 19 overs thanks to Ismail’s brilliant batting that included 4 towering sixes. Varun Sirohi made 25 off 20. Kanwaljot Singh and Suketu Limbani claimed three and two wickets respectively.
Cruising at 104 for 1 in the 13th over, Unique Elegant suddenly slumped to 125 for 5, losing the momentum and falling way behind the required run rate. Requiring 18 off the last over, Elegant could manage only 14 and lost the game by 3 runs. Openers Hardik Limbani and Ravi Sharma scored 47 and 43 respectively. Shameer Mohammed and Husnain Ali took two wickets each.

PSM beat ISWK
In a Women’s League clash, Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) snatched a last-ball victory against Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) thanks to a scintillating 88 not out by its captain Fiza Javed at Oman Cricket grassy ground 2 on Sunday.
Invited to bat first, ISWK posted a robust 159 for 3 in 20 overs thanks to a run-a-ball 76 not out by Jayadhanya Gunasekar and Afsha Ashfaq Khalifa’s patient 22. Saba Jahangir picked up two wickets.
Playing a lone hand, Fiza powered PSM to victory with her unbeaten knock as no other batswoman could score more than 11. PSM’s cause was also helped by a whopping 57 extras (compared to 56 extras that helped ISWK total) that included a staggering 49 wide balls. Jayadhanya Gunasekar bowled well too, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs.
